About

A butte-top westside lodge with a 9-person hot tub, a cold plunge beside it, and a gas fire pit a few steps away — the best seat in the house once the air turns crisp. Five bedrooms, three decks, a cook's kitchen, and a great room with a gas stove. Two minutes to downtown Bend, 35 to Smith Rock, 30 to Mt. Bachelor. Come for the quiet season.
Good to know
Fall on Aubrey Butte: the deck cools off, the fire pit comes on, and the hot tub gets its best months of the year. ★ 9-PERSON HOT TUB + COLD PLUNGE — side by side, with a natural-gas fire pit steps away. One guest: "magical after being out in the cold." ★ BUTTE-TOP MOUNTAIN VIEWS — atop Aubrey Butte on Bend's west side, looking over the pines toward Mt. Bachelor. ★ FIVE BEDROOMS, THREE BATHS — a real bed and a door that closes for everyone, across two levels plus a loft. ★ GREAT ROOM WITH A GAS STOVE — flip a switch and the room warms up. Vaulted beams, three sofas, dining for 10. ★ GOURMET KITCHEN — gas cooktop with griddle, coffee three ways, a full spice rack, bakeware and a waffle bar. ★ THREE DECKS + TRAEGER — upper deck off the kitchen, a cushioned coffee corner, and a front deck with a fire-pit table. ★ PET-FRIENDLY — small dogs preferred ★On-site caretaker in the attached suite next door, and named in 154 of our 205 reviews. WHY FALL, HERE Bend's shoulder season is the quiet one, and the good one. Smith Rock is 35 minutes away and autumn is its real climbing season — summer is too hot on that rock. The Metolius fishes beautifully and the bike trails come good once the dust settles. Bend Fall Festival takes downtown the first weekend of October. Aspen and larch turn gold along the Cascade drives from about October 1st, and the Old McKenzie Pass (OR-242) gates shut for winter in early November — so October is the window for that drive. Mt. Bachelor is 30 minutes up the road when the snow starts. THE BEDROOMS - Max sleeping allowed by city is 10 so there is plenty of room to spread out. 1 — King, main floor. Walk-in closet, TV, desk, room-darkening shades; the Japanese soaker tub bath is steps away. 2 — Queen 3 — King · 4 — Queen, all downstairs, sharing a hall bathroom with tub/shower. With all the extras, including a back massager. 5 — The bunk room, downstairs. 2 sets of Queen-over-queen bunks, its own bathroom with shower, a TV and lounge area. Also: washer and dryer, central heat and air plus two ductless units, a full office with dual monitors, gigabit wifi, four TVs and board games. GETTING AROUND 2 min to downtown Bend · 5 min Drake Park · 9 min Old Mill District · 11 min Deschutes River Trail · 22 min Redmond (RDM) · ~30 min Mt. Bachelor · 35 min Smith Rock. GOOD TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK Craig and Kathy, our property caretakers live in the attached mother-in-law unit next door. It is not part of the rental and the main house is entirely yours — but better you know before you arrive than after. Bend's noise ordinance means the hot tub and decks go quiet at 10pm. The house runs two heating systems and the lower level can lag on a cold night — ask us if you need help finding a balance. The entry steps are stone with metal caps and turn slick when wet or icy. We supply ice salt but please use caution. And we sit atop a butte: if it snows, all-wheel drive or chains are a good idea.
Other Details to Note
Cancellation Policy: We follow the policy in place at the time you booked, as shown in your confirmation. If there is any chance you may need to cancel, we recommend travel insurance at checkout. Refunds are not provided outside the booked policy for weather, illness or travel disruption. Pets: Small dogs are welcome. Pet stays must be approved in advance and we ask that every pet is registered before arrival. A pet fee covering the additional cleaning is charged at checkout; it does not cover pet damage, which remains the guest's responsibility. Dogs must be leashed outside and waste picked up immediately. We also ask that the dogs please stay off the furniture and that they are crated when left alone. Smoking: This is a non-smoking house. If you smoke, please do so outside only, using the ashtrays provided on the front entry deck and the back deck. Quiet Hours: Bend has a firm city noise ordinance. The hot tub and all decks go quiet at 10pm — this protects our neighbors and our city permit. On-Site Caretakers: Craig and Kathy live in the attached mother-in-law unit next door. It is not part of this rental and the main house is entirely yours. Outdoor Cameras: Exterior security cameras cover the entrance for your safety and may record video and audio. There are no cameras inside the home. Rental Agreement: A link to our rental agreement is sent to you to sign before check-in.
